Dartington International Summer School

‘A place where musical miracles can happen.’

This annual festival and celebration of music making, for professionals and amateurs, is held in the idyllic surroundings of the Dartington Estate. It is an international meeting ground for musicians and performers and brings together a community of all ages, creeds and abilities on equal terms. Activities have encompassed every aspect of music: early music, opera, choral work, conducting, world music, modern jive, jazz, tango, contemporary music, singer-songwriting, film music, rock, popular and light music. With renowned performers taking part, Dartington International Summer School of Music has been at the forefront of creative endeavour and has launched many distinguished careers.

The Brook Street Band

Since its formation in 1996 by baroque cellist Tatty Theo, the award-winning Brook Street Band has established itself as one of the country's foremost interpreters of Handel's music. The name comes from the street in London where George Frideric Handel lived and composed for most of his working life.

The Hanover Band

The Hanover Band, founded by its artistic director Caroline Brown, has an international reputation for the excellence of its performances and recordings of 18th and 19th century music, and has performed throughout the world, from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Hampton Court Palace. Its guest directors include Monica Huggett, Sir Charles Mackerras, Roy Goodman, Anthony Halstead, Nicholas Mc Gegan, Andrew Manze, Richard Egarr, Nicholas Kraemer and Benjamin Bayl.

The Old Market

The Old Market, Hove, is a venue for a wide range of artistic activities.  It was formerly home to the acclaimed period instrument orchestra, The Hanover Band.
