From Sickert to Gertler: Modern British Art from Boxted House

Brighton Museum & Art Gallery: 17 April - 12 September 2010

This exhibition celebrated the lives of Bobby and Natalie Bevan, generous hosts and patrons of the visual arts, and the paintings that adorned their exceptional home - the gathering place for many creative individuals during the years 1946–74.

Works featured in this show included paintings by Bobby's parents, Robert Bevan and Stanislawa de Karlowska, and their friends such as Walter Sickert, Harold Gilman and Charles Ginner. These works were hung beside pieces by Bobby and Natalie's own friends: Christopher Nevinson, John Armstrong, Frederick Gore, John Nash, Cedric Morris, Lett Haines and others.
